Sedation Options We Offer

Choose the level of comfort that's right for you

I.V. Sedation

Deep Sedation

The deepest form of conscious sedation. You'll be in a sleep-like state with little to no memory of the procedure. Perfect for extensive dental work or severe anxiety.

  • Deepest level of relaxation
  • Little to no memory of procedure
  • Ideal for long procedures
  • Constant vital signs monitoring
  • You'll need a driver home
Best For:
Severe anxiety, complex procedures, multiple treatments in one visit

Oral Sedation

Moderate Sedation

Take a prescribed pill before your appointment. You'll be awake but deeply relaxed, calm, and comfortable throughout your treatment.

  • No needles required
  • Deeply relaxed but conscious
  • May have limited memory
  • Easy to administer
  • You'll need a driver home
Best For:
Moderate anxiety, fear of dental visits, medium-length procedures

Nitrous Oxide

Light Sedation

Also known as "laughing gas." Breathe through a mask to feel relaxed and euphoric during your treatment. Effects wear off quickly after the mask is removed.

  • Lightest form of sedation
  • Quick onset & recovery
  • Stay fully conscious & aware
  • Safe for children & adults
  • Drive yourself home

Frequently Asked Questions

Is sedation dentistry safe?
Yes, when administered by trained professionals. We continuously monitor your vital signs throughout the procedure and follow strict safety protocols. Our team has over 30 years of experience providing safe sedation dentistry.
Will I be unconscious during sedation?
It depends on the level. With nitrous oxide, you'll be fully conscious and aware. Oral sedation keeps you conscious but deeply relaxed. I.V. sedation puts you in a sleep-like state, though you can still respond to verbal cues. You're never completely unconscious—that would be general anesthesia.
How long does sedation last?
Nitrous oxide wears off within minutes after the mask is removed. Oral sedation effects can last 2-8 hours. I.V. sedation typically lasts 2-6 hours. You'll need someone to drive you home for oral and I.V. sedation, and you shouldn't operate machinery or make important decisions for 24 hours.
Will I remember the procedure?
With nitrous oxide, yes—you'll remember everything but feel relaxed. With oral sedation, you may have limited or fuzzy memories. With I.V. sedation, most patients have little to no memory of the procedure. Many patients say it feels like they "blinked" and the work was done.
Does insurance cover sedation dentistry?
Coverage varies by plan. Some insurance covers sedation when medically necessary (e.g., severe anxiety, special needs). Nitrous oxide is sometimes covered. We'll verify your benefits and discuss all costs upfront so there are no surprises.
Can anyone get sedation dentistry?
Most people are good candidates, but we'll review your medical history first. Certain conditions may affect which type of sedation is safest for you. Pregnant women and people with certain respiratory conditions may need alternative options. We'll find the right solution for your situation.
